Did you know that magnesium sulfate helps reduce the symptoms of acute asthma?

March 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

What is magnesium sulfate? Magnesium Sulfate is commonly called Epsom salt.

Magnesium sulfate is the primary substance that causes the absorption of sound in seawater.Absorption, in this case, means the conversion of acoustic energy to heat energy. The sound appears to be absorbed into the ocean. The conversion is a strong function of frequency, lower frequencies are less affected by the salt, so that the acoustic energy travels much farther in the ocean.

Sodium chloride is the most common salt in the sea, but it has no effect on sound absorption. Boric acid is the second substance found in seawater that has some effect on absorption, but it is a distant second to magnesium sulfate.

In agriculture and gardening, magnesium sulfate is used to correct magnesium deficiency in soil (magnesium is an essential element in the chlorophyll molecule). It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, peppers and cannabis. The advantage of magnesium sulfate over other magnesium soil amendments (such as dolomitic lime) is its high solubility.

Magnesium is a naturally occurring mineral. Magnesium is important for many systems in the body especially the muscles and nerves. Magnesium sulfate also increases water in the intestines, which may induce defecation.(taking a dump)

Oral magnesium sulfate, or magnesium hydroxide, is commonly used as a saline laxative. Epsom salt is also available in a gel form for topical application in treating aches and pains.

Indications for its use are

Replacement therapy for hypomagnesemia.

Magnesium sulfate is the first-line antiarrhythmic agent for Torsades de pointes in cardiac arrest under the 2005 ECC guidelines as well as managing Quinidine-induced arrythmias.

As a bronchodilator after beta-agonist and anticholinergic agents have been tried, e.g. in severe exacerbations of asthma.[6] Recent studies have revealed that magnesium sulfate can be nebulized to reduce the symptoms of acute asthma.[6] It is commonly administered via the intravenous route for the management of severe asthma attacks.

Users of Epsom salt in the gel form have reported significant and lasting reduction of pain associated with fibromyalgia and osteoporosis.[citation needed]
A 2004 research study showed that both magnesium and sulfate are absorbed through the skin when bathing in 1% solution.[7]

Magnesium sulfate can be used to treat eclampsia in pregnant women.[8]
Magnesium sulfate can also delay labor in the case of premature labor, to delay preterm birth.

Intravenous magnesium sulfate may be able to prevent cerebral palsy in preterm babies.[9]

Solutions of sulfate salts such as Epsom salt may be given as first aid for Barium chloride poisoning.

Magnesium sulfate paste has been used as an agent for dehydrating (drawing) boils, carbuncles and abscesses.

Magnesium sulfate solution has also been shown to be an effective aid in the fight against blemishes and acne when applied directly to problematic areas, usually in poultice form.

Magnesium sulfate when used through soaking, can soothe muscle pains and help improve rough patches in the skin.

The body’s magnesium level increases when soaking with magnesium sulfate which is necessary for serotonin, a mood-regulating neurotransmitter that may increase feelings of relaxation and well-being.[10]

Soaking in a warm bath containing Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) can be beneficial to soothe and relieve Herpes outbreak symptoms, such as itching and lesions relating to Genital Herpes and Shingles.[11][12]

Hal Durham died he was77

March 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Longtime Grand Ole Opry announcer Hal Durham has died at age 77. The McMinnville, Tenn. native was with the legendary country music program for 32 years, beginning his stint as the voice of the Opry in 1964. He also served as general manager from 1978 – 1993 and as program director of the Opry’s radio home, WSM.

Hal Durham, who helped assure the Grand Ole Opry’s transition into the modern era, died over the weekend at his home in Cape Coral, Fla. Mr. Durham, a McMinnville, Tenn., native who also served as a WSM announcer and executive, was 77.

Mr. Durham’s contributions to the Opry were substantial and necessary. He served four years as manager and began his 15-year run as general manager when he succeeded E.W. “Bud” Wendell in 1978.

By that point, country had evolved well beyond its roots as an acoustic music format, and top country artists were drawing arena-level audiences that necessitated playing lucrative tour dates away from Nashville.

The general manager reacted to these factors by altering both the Opry’s stage setup and its membership rules.

Under Mr. Durham’s leadership, full drum sets were allowed on the Opry stage.

Before, drummers had to appear with only a snare and a cymbal, and when percussion was first allowed on the Opry in the 1950s, drummers such as Buddy Harman had to actually strike a brush against a drum head that was affixed to a standup bass.

Mr. Durham also significantly relaxed membership requirements with regard to required personal appearances, clearing the way for artists with heavy touring schedules to become Opry members without having to commit to multiple Opry appearances each month.

The battle you must see!!!

March 31, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Let me say that when I saw that this video was in black and white, I was thinking this is not going to beworth watching. You see the tiger kept initiating the battle with the snake. The unique thing about this snake is that he would not have started with the tiger and to take it a step farther the snake kept trying to get away. For in reality the smake could not eat the tiger because he was too big to eat! Now the battle was so interesting because the tiger had brought his A game when he first started attacking the snake.

Some where in his battle he let his guard down and to be honest when I saw the snake tighten his grip, I thought it was over! Let me say this that tiger and snake showed one thing and that is they both had heart… Although because the tiger had his mind set on snake for dinner, he left the snake with no other choice, killed or be killed… I think for certain that the next time that tiger attacks a python he may think twice!
